January 17th, 2012

If you’re confused about what you need to do, to get and keep beautiful skin, you’re not alone. It doesn’t really have to be so complicated. Along with using quality products and following a good daily skin care routine, there are 5 essential face care tips to follow in order to have beautiful skin.

The best part of these skin care tips is that they are all completely natural and easy to make a part of your everyday life.

Tip #1 – Feed Your Skin

Feed your skin the healthy way. Eating a healthy diet rich in nutrients will greatly enhance the likelihood of you having beautiful, radiant skin.Healthy foods are filled with antioxidants which protect the skin from sun and environmental damage. Antioxidants also help to prevent wrinkles.

Fruit, especially berries, green veggies and nuts are a few of the kinds of food containing antioxidants. Just as important is to avoid deep fried foods, processed foods, smoked foods, as well as those that are high in sugar. This type of food can cause blemishes and dull looking skin.

Tip #2 – Hydrate Your Skin

This is probably the single most important thing you can do for the health of your skin. Although it’s important to drink water, it doesn’t mean you have to drink endless glasses of the wet stuff. The recommended amount is between 8 and 12 glasses a day. That seems like a lot to drink and it may not always be possible.

You can replace at least some of your water consumption by eating foods with high water content. Certain foods contain a lot of water, naturally. Many raw vegetables and most fruits are high in water content. Needless to say, these kinds of foods are good for you too. So supplement your water drinking with these types of foods for overall health benefits.

Tip #3 – Relax

Stress affects your whole body, but one of the first places it will show up is on your face and skin. Worrying and feeling stressed out can make you look and feel older. Those lines around your mouth appear deeper; the bags under your eyes become more pronounced.

When you find yourself feeling stressed, try taking a few deep breaths. You may find that you unconsciously hold your breath when you are tense. Breathing relieves the tension and forces you to relax. Notice how those lines smooth out when you are relaxed.

Find a few stress relievers. They can be things like taking a warm, soothing soak in the tub complete with a facial mask, practicing meditation, or doing some yoga.

Tip #4 – Exercise

You may groan to think about exercise as being good for the skin, but it’s true. When you exercise, you get the blood flowing more than usual, giving your face a vibrant color, and making you feel good. Increased blood flow is good for skin. Think about the pasty look that many smokers get over time. At least part of that is because of the decrease in blood flow caused by smoking.

Exercise doesn’t have to be anything in particular. Even walking is a great overall activity. Just aim to get moving and raise your pulse to benefit.

Tip #5 – Sleep

It’s more than important to get enough sleep, every night. They don’t call it “beauty rest” for nothing. While you sleep, your body regenerates and repairs. To maintain vibrant skin and a glowing complexion, be sure that you get enough sleep.
